[Music] In the past two decades, digital technologies have completely changed how people worldwide interact, communicate, find information, create, work, consume, express and entertain themselves. The way we communicate, create, share and learn has changed as we gain access to a greater variety of information sources and continue to produce and share knowledge at an accelerated rate. A Digital Competency Framework was developed to support these changes and provide guidelines to foster the development of the digital competency and its dimensions. It is our role as educators to prepare our students for this reality and take advantage of digital technologies in the development of competencies as they have undeniable benefits. For example, we can verify understanding quickly using online quizzes in order to determine student readiness and guide future lessons, provide students with choices, i.e. to carry out a reinvestment task in a variety of ways, e.g., produce a podcast, a video, an animated story, collaborate in the same digital environment to plan, brainstorm, write ideas from a text, offer easy access to a variety of types of texts, provide opportunities to analyze, use the information and develop critical skills. These are but a few examples of the benefits digital technology provides for the development of C2 in the ESL programs. [Music]
