Important!

Don’t forget, it is important for students to take the time to construct the meaning of texts individually or with others to better prepare them for the reinvestment task. You could also use these activities to test their readiness to do the final task and to have a formal trace such as observations, conversations between teacher and student and products.

If you are planning to assess, you need to think about the following:

Criterion - Evidence of understanding of texts

These are the observable elements:

  • Demonstrates understanding of overall meaning of texts;
  • Identifies and/or describes key elements in texts;
  • Establishes connections between text and own experience;
  • Expresses appreciation of texts;
  • Shares understanding.

Some questions you can ask yourself when planning:

  1. What kind of information are you looking for?
  2. What are the key elements for this task?
  3. How will you collect your information?
  4. How will you communicate the information to students?

Remember that students need to have had time to have done similar tasks before assessing their understanding.
